One of Sonic Biochem’s products is Texturized Vegetable Protein (TVP). TVP is derived from soy flour that has had its fat extracted. For the flour to be fatless, it is put through an extruder. The pulp of the flour is subjected to high pressure and temperature in order to separate and extrude the fat from the soy product as well as increase in volume. The method is used to ensure the structure and consistency is porous and open to protein content by 50 - 56% (based on dry basis). Additionally, through this process our product has a greater ability to absorb water (hydration). After being rehydrated, the outcome is comparable to minced meat, but less mushy. TVP is commonly used in the food industry, but more recognized in the meat processing industry. Sausages, burgers, chicken nuggets, meatballs, corned beef, etc. regularly use TVP. The main function of this product is as a filler to keep production costs low while upholding the integrity of the final product.
MarkTex S TVP is a special grade TVP created exlusively for PT. Markaindo Selaras. MarkTex S TVP in comparison to other products, has the ability to absorb water as much as 3 times its own weight, whilst the scent of soybeans (beany flavor) it is not too strong and has been certified Non-GMO that states it is free from ingredients of genetically modified or GMO. MarkTex S offers TVP in different particle size ranging from powder to the granular size of 1 to 7 mm and provide various color choices are natural (beige), natural light, caramel light (brown) and red.
In addition to TVP, Sonic Biochem also produces various food ingredients such as soya protein concentrate, de-oiled soya flakes/flour with low and high PDI (Protein Dispersibility Index), soy lecithin, sunflower lecithin and others. Several Sonic Biochem products have important role in processed foods, for example de-oiled soya flakes/flour with high PDI which is used for fortification cereals, bakeries, cookies, crackers, diet foods and baby foods because it has a high vegetable protein content with balanced essential amino acid components, and is also a very good source of minerals and dietary fiber.
