J. Rettenmaier USA LP - USA is a subsidiary of JRS Group (J. Rettenmaier & Söhne GmbH + Co KG) based in the United States. This company produces various types of fiber and powdered cellulose in various brands to be applied to various types of industries such as the food & beverage industry, pharmaceutical industry, animal feed industry, plastic industry, rubber industry, building materials industry and others.
As a global market leader for fiber products JRS Group has acquired several other fiber manufacturers, one of which is Solvaira Specialty LP which was acquired at the end of 2017. After the acquisition, the JustFiber and Solka-Floc brands are getting stronger globally because they are owned by The JRS Group which is the market leader of fiber products in the world. The two brands mentioned above are widely known in Indonesia because they have been used for a long time by the food industry in the country.
Fiber/powdered cellulose is used as an ingredient in a variety of processed food and beverages including meats, pasta, baked dishes, dietary products, cheese, seasoning, snack, bakery and pet food. JustFiber and Solka-Floc are just two brands of powdered cellulose fiber production of IFE which has been widely used as an ingredient in food products and beverages. Both products vary in fibers types, such as fiber length and particle size; with a range between 15-300 microns. The length of different fibers will have a different functional effect when added to food products. In general, it can be said that the powdered cellulose with small particle sizes will improve the texture, mouthfeel and a "viscosity" in similar products sauces and salad dressings. While powdered cellulose with a large particle size can serve as a component which strengthen its structure and improve the texture of the products of a type of bread and cakes.
In terms of health, powdered cellulose included in the category of dietary fiber, which has long been known to have an important role in maintaining human health, particularly in relation to the prevention of various ailments such as constipation, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and colon cancer.
Processed meat products such as sausages, meatballs, burger patties and nuggets often associated as a food with "poor fiber" and considered "unhealthy". With doses between 0.5 - 5% (generally used at a dose of 1-3%) of the total mass of minced meat, has an impressive ability to bind and be molded and absorb liquid.
